Group 1 battles 2 alarm fire on Lakeview Ave
Posted On: Apr 26, 2016

Firefighters were called to Lakeview Ave around 2:30 and arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor from three windows of a 3 story building. A second alarm was quickly struck as first in companies started to stretch lines to the seat of the fire and search for occupants who still might be trapped in the building. The search was able to rescue several pets but no people were found.

George Rose, deputy director of Lowell Emergency Management, said 38 residents were displaced from the 16-unit building and that the Red Cross of Massachusetts was called to the scene to assist them.

The Fire Departments Arson Squad is investigaing the fire along with the Police Department to determine the cause.
